Itâs
so unusual to find an extremely good restaurant in the Casino
setting almost anywhere in the world, at least without breaking
the bank when you do visit. Paying too much for food or
wine in a restaurant is basically bad business. The casino
hosts and bosses like to have inflated prices in the "gourmet"
restaurant so that when a "comp" guest has dinner
there they think they really had a chance to take advantage
of that casino with their meal. There is no need to feel
like you must pay for the meal at least twice when you visit
the Rio Hotel and especially their Fiore rotisserie &
grill. This unique menu starts with items like their chilled,
roasted eggplant terrine with balsamic vinaigrette &
pesto, or a real lobster bisque, with lobster pieces nestled
in this lovely very silky soup. Pasta in unusual forms will
greet those that need tempting like the spaghettini with
pastrami duck breast & cabbage. What a delicious dish.
Just before your entree is served comes a chilled dish with
a sorbet surrounded in a light bath of Dom Perignon, Brut
1985 to cleanse your palate just perfectly. The simplicity
of entrees show you how to enjoy a meal by having several
courses instead of a large portion of one entree. Try lamb
scaloppini with Black Forest ham & Shitake mushrooms
or Gulf Red snapper sauté with fennel & olives,
or my favorite, farm raised rabbit, tarragon, sherry vinegar
jus and the presentation is almost breathtaking. There is
a fruit and cheese cart to choose maybe a glass of port,
goat camembert, stilton morbier, or brillat savarin. A wonderful
way to complement a fine meal. Also they will
offer you a selection off a cigar cart. A good number of
very fine cigars might temp you after a fine meal. You then
would be directed to their own cigar patio and offered a
selection of many cognacs and coffees as well. All wine,
ports, or after dinner drinks come on an exclusive list
offered by the wine manager. Try not to miss this dining
experience and is a must for a special occasion. Dinner
about $38 pp.
